||NY Countdown: Guest Post||

// guest post by: Tabitha{my best} of Mimzi
While in NYC, eating Italian food in Little Italy is a must!!

I'm so excited to do this guest post on Kerri's blog! Or as I call her, Fella.

She is going to New York in less than 2 weeks and I'm SO jealous!! The hubs and I went to New York City for our honeymoon and it was one of the best decisions we made. We both have always wanted to go to New York. I had been once, but it was for a total of one day...ONE! You cant experience New York City in one day... I'm not sure you can fully experience New York in 10, but we gave it our best effort. The hubs had never been, and we figured that someday we would have kids, and taking kids to New York City just sounds like a job, not a vacation. So, we thought, what better time than our honeymoon! We left the bathing suites and sunscreen at home, packed our long sleeve shirts and walking shoes, and took off for the big city.

We had the time of our lives!

We did all of the typical New York touristy things the first 4 days we were there. I've never done so much walking in my life. (I don't recommend paying the astronomical rate to go to the top of the empire state building...but that's just me) We were there during a huge food fair which was probably one of our favorite things we did while in the city. There were tens of thousands of people...it was insane. The hubs and I are not at all foodies, but for that weekend we pretended to be, and had so much fun doing it. Aside from the food fair, our other favorite thing was Broadway. We saw Phantom of the Opera and Wicked... This was my second time seeing Wicked. What an experience to see it on Broadway. Even my all about football hubby loved it...he LOVED it! Take that Tony Romo!

Being kissed by the handsome hubs in Times Square = priceless

// Serendipity
We had heard so much about the frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity that we had to check it out for ourselves...plus I love the movie =)

One of the other things we did while in NYC, that I HIGHLY recommend, is a dinner cruise. It was a small boat with about 15 people on it, so it was very cozy and intimate. The tour took us under all of the major bridges to the city. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The couple in the picture with us was on their 50th anniversary. We loved hearing them talk about their kids, grand kids and marriage.

// Central Park
One of the days we were there was dedicated to Central Park...um, its HUGE! We started out walking from one end and thought "lets walk to the Metropolitan Museum of Art"...on the other side of Central Park....no big deal.......HA! By the time we got there, I didn't have the energy to care about art. I just wanted to sit down somewhere!

// Broadway
The best show I've ever seen.

 We celebrated my birthday while we were there. Yes, we got married a week before my birthday. I wanted to get married before I turned 30.
Dont judge!
As a gift, the hubs took me on a carriage ride. It was beautiful! and better than walking all over central park =) However, it is expensive and I really wouldn't recommend it for the price. Put on those walking shoes and enjoy the park for free. That's my advice...but don't walk all the way to the Met =)

// Kissing again!
Another kiss in Times Square, because its our honeymoon and that's what you do on your honeymoon, right?

 // Statue of Liberty
Someone (a local) told us that it wasn't really worth it to go to the Statue of Liberty and that we should take the fairy (which is free) because it goes/drives/floats? right by her, so we did that and it was awesome! I recommend doing it that way, unless you have time and money to go to the actual Island to see her.

// Grand Central Station
This is Grand Central Station. Ok, THE coolest thing to do here, is find the "Whispering Wall" I stood in one corner and the hubs stood in the opposite corner about 15 feet away, with people walking all around making all kinds of noise. Todd spoke into the corner just above a whisper and the way the room/area is built, his voice carried over to me, and I could hear him over all of the noise in the station. It was pretty friggin cool if you ask me, but I'm a small town girl, so I'm easy to amuse.

 Last but not least, the Brooklyn bridge. Beautiful, cold, and windy. Loved it!

I could go on all day about this trip. All I can say is, now I know what all of the hype is about. New York City did not disappoint.

|| i·den·ti·ty || part four

the final part to the i·den·ti·ty series

// i am made new in Christ - born of God the saying "we're just forgiven sinners saved by grace" is devastating because it actually denies the work that God has done in us. God's word tells us that we are a new creature in Christ, old things have passed away and all things have become new: "therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. the old has passed away; behold the new has come" - 2 Corinthians 5:17. when i accepted Jesus a my Lord and Savior and believed upon Him, i became a new creation in Christ. God's word tells us that this new man is created in righteousness and true holiness: "and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness" - Ephesians 4:24. i am not just born again but i have also become a child of God: "but to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God" - John 1:12-13. so what happened to the old you? the old you was crucified with Christ. God didn't repair the old you, he created a new you in Christ, which is what the Bible refers to when talking about being born-again: "Jesus answered, 'truly, truly  i say to you, unless one is born of water and the spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that i say to you, 'you must be born again" - John 3:5-7. "i have been crucified with Christ. it is no longer i who live, bu Christ who lives in me. and the life i now live in the flesh i live by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" - Galatians 2:20"

// i am seated with Christ - a position of authority to be seated refers to a place of authority. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, and God's word tells us that we are seated with Christ: "and raised us up with him and seated us with him in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" - Ephesians 2:6. because of my in Christ, i am seated in a place of authority over all sickness, diseases, and demons.

in conclusion, when i don't realize who i am in Christ, my faith is crippled. if i don't feel worthy yo exercise my authority in Christ  then i won't be doing it in the fullness of faith and will lack assurance. satan works diligently to program people's minds to feel unworthy and unable to walk in the power of God here on earth. this is one of the most popular strongholds in existence today in the body of Christ. the truth is that we, by our own power and effort, are unworthy, but it is the blood of Christ that makes us worthy. and if we say we are unworthy when the blood says we are, then we are denying the work that Christ did for us on the cross.

// i pray ephesians 3:14-19 over you now, for this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. in Jesus' name amen.

//i am proud and blessed to live life with such crazy-talented people! Sean & Brittany Kyte put together this amazing short film called 53.

// based on Isaiah 53, this short wonderfully conveys who Jesus is and the significance of His life, death and resurrection. "in this short film we also see three very relatable scenarios in which each character is experiencing a different level of the freedom that we have in Christ Jesus. in Him, we now have hope! no matter where we are at in life, with Christ our best days truly are ahead of us." - Brittany Kyte, Created.

//Isaiah 53(MSG)
Who believes what we've heard and seen?
    Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this?
The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling,
    a scrubby plant in a parched field.
There was nothing attractive about him,
    nothing to cause us to take a second look.
He was looked down on and passed over,
    a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand.
One look at him and people turned away.
    We looked down on him, thought he was scum.
But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
    our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
    that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
    that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.
    Through his bruises we get healed.
We’re all like sheep who've wandered off and gotten lost.
    We've all done our own thing, gone our own way.
And God has piled all our sins, everything we've done wrong,
    on him, on him.
He was beaten, he was tortured,
    but he didn't say a word.
Like a lamb taken to be slaughtered
    and like a sheep being sheared,
    he took it all in silence.
Justice miscarried, and he was led off—
    and did anyone really know what was happening?
He died without a thought for his own welfare,
    beaten bloody for the sins of my people.
They buried him with the wicked,
    threw him in a grave with a rich man,
Even though he’d never hurt a soul
    or said one word that wasn't true.
Still, it’s what God had in mind all along,
    to crush him with pain.
The plan was that he give himself as an offering for sin
    so that he’d see life come from it—life, life, and more life.
    And God’s plan will deeply prosper through him.
Out of that terrible travail of soul,
    he’ll see that it’s worth it and be glad he did it.
Through what he experienced, my righteous one, my servant,
    will make many “righteous ones,”
    as he himself carries the burden of their sins.
Therefore I’ll reward him extravagantly—
    the best of everything, the highest honors—
Because he looked death in the face and didn't flinch,
    because he embraced the company of the lowest.
He took on his own shoulders the sin of the many,
    he took up the cause of all the black sheep.

|| i·den·ti·ty || part three

// my sin is no longer a part of me the truth is that your sins have not simply been covered, but actually removed from your account. this was not possible in the old testament, but through the precious Blood of Christ, the removal of sins is a reality. "the next day john saw Jesus coming toward, and said 'behold, the lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!" - John 1:29. "for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins" - Matthew 26:28. and if forgiving us wasn't enough, God himself chose to FORGET our failures for His own sake. when He sees us, He doesn't want to remember our failures, He wants to see us a His precious child who stands blameless before Him. "i will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more" - Hebrews 10:17

// i have peace with God we have been justified and made right with God, therefore we have peace with God. this means that your relationship with God has been restored and you can boldly enter His presence with a clean conscience because of your faith in Christ Jesus and the work that He's done for us on the cross. "therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our lord Jesus Christ" - Romans 5:1.

// i am clothed with the righteousness of Jesus as believers in Christ, there is a great exchange that has taken place. one of the things exchanged is our sin for Jesus' own righteousness. "the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe" - Romans 3:22. "whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. this was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins" - Romans 3:25 "for if, by one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ" - Romans 5:17. Jesus recieved what we deserved (punishment for our sins), and He gave us His righteousness in exchange!

// will be in tucson this weekend with two of my aunts to visit my cousin and little man. i hope little man is feeling better.

//  happy day before friday,

|| i·den·ti·ty || part two

// i am purchased at a steep price i am purchased by the precious blood of the lamb "for you were bought with a price. so glorify God in your body" - 1 Corinthians 6:20. "and they sang a new song, saying 'worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed (or purchased) people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation" - Revelation 5:9. Jesus purchased us with His own blood because of His deep love for us and he deeply desires to have a loving relationship with you and i. "but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8.

// i am justified and declared innocent if i have repented of my sins and accepted the gift of God (the forgiveness of sins through the precious shed blood of Christ) then God's word tells me that i am justified. "yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified." - Galatians 2:16. the word "justified" in this passage is derived from the Greek word dikaioo, which means, "to render (that is, show or regards as) just or innocent: - free, justify(ier), be righteous". if a person is justified , it means they are made innocent or made just as if they have never sinned.

// i am entitled to a clean conscience since my sins have been put away and removed from me, and we are justified (made right with God) i am entitled to a clean and undefiled conscience. "how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God" - Hebrews 9:14. if i am still beating myself up over my past failures which have been nailed to the cross, i am denying the work that Christ has done for me. a clean conscience before the Lord agrees with what Christ has done in removing my sin and declaring me as justified or innocent before the Lord.

// identity has been heavy on my heart the past twenty four hours. i have struggled with identity for a long time, unknowingly. so, i am challenging myself to memorize the scripture verses that have to do with my identity. if you are up for the challenge, join me! i will post the verses to memorize at the end of every post. please declare these scriptures over your life and watch how God changes and/or reveals new things about who you are. feel free to comment below about anything the Lord shows you as we dive deeper into this. my heart is to start a conversation and to learn and grow with you.

// identity. identity. identity.

// God is so good.

// continually renewing your mind with Biblical truth is a vital part of a believer. "you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free" - John 8:32. satan works diligently to program people's minds to feel unworthy and unable to walk in the power of God. knowing your identity is Christ will allow you to battle satan more effectively. if you are a Christ follower than the following statements i claim are for you to claim as well.

// i am worthy! i am worthy because Jesus' blood has made me worthy. if you claim to be unworthy after the blood of Christ has made your worthy you are denying the work of Christ in your life.

// i am loved by God the Father! i am loved by God not because of what i have done, but because of who i am. "but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" - Romans 5:8. God loves me with the same love that He has towards Jesus himself. "i in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me" - John 17:23. i am valuable and dear to Him because Jesus laid down his life for me and he said that the greatest love a man can show for his friends, is when he lays down his life for them. "greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends" - John 15:13. if we don't realize the love of God, we cannot be filled with the fullness of God. we will lack His fullness in our lives until we come to know of His deep love for us. "so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith - that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." - Ephesians 3:17-19

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
